Culture Shock

Sunday, May 11, 2008

In a recent article found in The State newspaper (actually I found it online), was an article written about “our times” and the culture shock the south is receiving because of the changing times. A great article and I hope someone will share their comments with the editor, writer of this article and even the businessman first referenced in the article and ask him their thoughts on what we can do as a Christian citizen of a Kingdom greater than this state to continue in the traditions with which our state was founded, settled, and lived for much of its existence. Now some of the traditions, if not founded on the Word of God, then may not need to be continued, but for those which are, then allow them to stand.

One comment by a USC professor (Kevin Lewis) who teaches a course in the history of the South: “You just can’t keep the world out of the South, and the world is not quite like the traditional South.”

The article may be accessed here, Southern Cultures: Gone with the Wind (you may also post your comment at the bottom of the article, but a better substitute would be to write a handwritten letter.
