Cockney Slang?

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

Several of us were speaking the other day (do not exactly know what about) and somebody pulled out the phrase, “Barney Rubble”, while speaking about a situation. The person who this was said to said, oh, that’s funny, that’s cockney slang. I never heard of this language.

If you recall from Ocean’s Eleven when that term “Barney Rubble” was used. He says something to the effect, “we’re barney”. what? “barney, BARNEY Rubble….TROUBLE”.

Well did some internet surfing and I am shocked that this is an actual language used in our culture today. It hails from the English in Great Britain.
