Western Kentucky Twisters

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Good friends of ours and a dear brother in Christ, also members of Christ Church received news last night that the home which he grew up in (Central City, Kentucky) was hit by a tornado and reports are saying that the home is totalled.

He quotes,

Parents home hit hard by tornado tonight. We are leaving soon for central city. Pray for my family and wisdom for us. Parents suffered total loss – my old bedroom over the garage is gone – ceiling in garage fell on dads car – totaled. All windows out of home and raining on contents.

Please be in prayer for our brother and petition to Him that folks back home would see “Christ in [the Greenwoods], the hope of glory.” (Several sermons on “Christ in you, the hope of glory”: Dr. Bill Barcley (Sovereign Grace Church) and Dr. Carl Robbins (Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church)

This storm has so far killed 27 people. (Greenville, Ky is just sw of Central City)

Psalm 90:16-17

“Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it”

Psalm 93

The LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The LORD has clothed and girded Himself with strength;
Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.
Your throne is established from of old;
You are from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O LORD,
The floods have lifted up their voice,
The floods lift up their pounding waves.
More than the sounds of many waters,
Than the mighty breakers of the sea,
The LORD on high is mighty.
Your testimonies are fully confirmed;
Holiness befits Your house,
O LORD, forevermore.
