Christmas – Spurgeon Style

Saturday, December 1, 2007

I am not in 100% agreement but thought it would be interesting to reflect on some of what Spurgeon is saying about Christmas:”I hold it to be one of the greatest absurdities under heaven to think that there is any religion in keeping Christmas-day. We have no superstitious regard for times and seasons. Certainly we do not believe in the present ecclesiastical arrangement called Christmas:first, because we do not believe in the mass at all, but abhor it, whether it be said or sung in Latin or in English;and secondly, because we find no Scriptural warrant whatever for observing any day as the birthday of the Saviour; and, consequently, its observance is a superstition, because not of divine authority.” – C.H. SPURGEON
