Don’t Worry, Be Joyful

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

From November’s issue of Tabletalk. I found this to be helpful as I often here, or see, Christians being more moved by circumstances than being grounded in the Holy Spirit and the fruit which He gives to each regenerated person. All who call themselves Christian have the ability to access the fruit of the Spirit, but often neglect to.

Philippians 4:4-7, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, Rejoice.”

The editor of Tabletalk uses that verse to comment the following, “Unfortunately, we tend to believe joy is something that happens to us, and so we often lack joy when things do not go our way. But joy is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) that will manifest in all believers, and so we must strive to be joyful in our lives. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and we are therefore able to ‘rejoice in the Lord always’ (Phil. 4:4). We can decide to have joy.”
