Friday Ramblings

Friday, March 30, 2007

The other day, we had a funny incident happen. The family which watches Joshua on occasion had brought him home. This was Nana’s first day here (We have not mentioned her here? We will). The wife/mother in this family was very excited about meeting her. As she stepped out of her car, leaving her keys in the ignition, she shut the door (car turned off), and for some reason the door locked when she shut her door. I think you know where this is going. Well, her daughter had also gotten out and shut her door. Little Joshua was still in his car seat. She shut the door, I said, “take out your keys and stay a while”. She noticed she could not get back in and all remained calm and she said, “Call the police, when there is a child, they will open up cars”. Someone thought about trying another door and to this ladies’ surprise and RELIEF, the door was unlocked. The entire time Joshua was smiling and just having a grand time being with Da and Maymey, not knowing what was going on.

Joshua is signed up for another 10 weeks of Gymboree Music classes. Still on Mondays. To Neenees dismay, the teacher is leaving there to go back to school. Her name is Julia and to the confirmation of Kevin Bacon’s 6 Degrees of Separation (link) rule, Julia use to date a young boy at our church. We were not friends with her or this young boy but because he did some assistance work for me on Sundays, I would extend the hand of fellowship to her and say “hello”, “good morning”. She remembered seeing Lauren pregnant and maybe was around for the first month or two of Joshua’s life. But as it went, which it often does for this boy, things did not work out and she no longer came to our church.

Tonight a family is treating us to a night out. The Daleys are a sweet family to our family but also to the body at Christ Church. They have two daughters, both under 10 years of age. They are about this tall (my hand raises to about waist high on me. use your imagination.) They have wanted to do something for us since Caleb’s birth and the timing could not have been better. The question is, where will we go? The Daley’s will come to our home, The Haven, and as Mr. Daley stated it, “The girls believe that they are doing the watching and mom and dad are only here for the transportation and the purchasing of supper for the children.” Very precious. We are looking forward to it.

With Palm Sunday coming up this Lord’s Day, the only addition to our regular weekly offerings and Sunday offering is a Good Friday Communion service, which will commence at 6 o’clock in the evening. For Resurrection Sunday we are considering getting a Heavenly Ham (link), but they are kind of pricey. We had considered a Maurice’s BBQ ham or turkey (link), but the least expensive of the two is the turkey which is still $50, the hams start about $70. For a party of 10-20, that is doable, but for 3-5, harder to justify.

Why is Mrs. Regi here? She is here because of a sister who’s husband has died. They lived in the Raleigh, NC area. She flew in on Wednesday. My sweet wife and son, Caleb, picked her up in Charlotte. Which by the way is the longest my lady-wife has driven on her own. I am so pleased with her. She unknowingly carried this verse with her, Isaiah 40 (link). I’ll let you ask her what is meant by this. Also who came up from Florida is Aunt GiGi (gee gee) along with Harry who almost ran away from her during the trip up. Harry is a dog, one of those little white ones. During that Wednesday evening, we had Mrs. Regi, Gigi (and Harry), and Lyndsey over for some of Lauren’s best enchiladas. They were delicious and had enough for leftovers. My wife seeing God’s provision manifested in what she believed was not enough. He always supplies our needs. Mrs. Regi will stay until Sunday afternoon when Lyndsey and her will drive to Charlotte, spend the night, and she will catch an early flight to fly back to be with her man, whom she misses and hates being without.

Today, the Espinosas have planned a trip to the shoe store for Joshua. Stride Rite is having a buy one get one 1/2 off deal. Joshua has not grown out of his current ones, but with a deal like this and the price which shoes cost, it is best to get them when you find these deals.

Last night the Parker Pages brought dinner over. I believe all of us were craving for Publix Fried Chicken and all the fixins. We could not eat outside due to the weather, yet that did not stop us from tearing into the chicken like a pack of starving wolves. Our wives being of course the cute, lady-like wolves. DELICIOUS. Can I give a HT to the Pages for a great meal?

We are also looking for a DOUBLE-Seater bike stroller (pulls behind the bike). If anyone knows of one, has a deal on one, please let us know.

Please continue to pray for us as we are praying for you all. Caleb’s naps and sleeps are not the best and his screeching cry becomes wearisome. If you have any suggestions as what to do with assisting with his naps and overnight sleep, please leave a comment. Joseph, duct tape is not an option.

Love y’all.
